This feature is not limited to Octopus. It is widely compatible with over 870 UK electricity suppliers, including British Gas, E.ON Next, OVO Energy, EDF Energy, and ScottishPower. As long as your supplier offers a TOU tariff, the device will fully support it.

In the UK, Anker SOLIX Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro is compatible with Anker SOLIX Smart Meter (A17X7) and Anker SOLIX Smart Meter Gen 2.

Anker SOLIX Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro can be used without a smart meter. However, in this configuration, household load monitoring is unavailable, and advanced energy management features are restricted. Only Custom Mode is available for charge and discharge control, and the anti-backflow (zero-export) functionality is not supported.

When used with a smart meter, the system can access household load data and enable advanced energy management modes, including Smart Mode, Self-Consumption Mode, Time-of-Use (TOU) Mode, and Dynamic Tariff Mode, to maximise energy savings. Anti-backflow functionality is also supported.

The new generation Smart Meter features the following key upgrades:

1. Dual-Measurement Design: Compatible with both new solar and storage installations, and existing PV retrofits, enabling seamless integration of third-party PV systems into a unified energy management system.

2. Active Branch Circuit Protection: Protects the dedicated circuit connected to your Anker devices. It automatically reduces output power when approaching the safety threshold set in the app, proactively preventing overcurrent risks and ensuring safe operation of your home's electrical circuits.

3. Tool-Free Installation: Both the voltage sampling and RS485 ports feature SNAP IN terminals for quick, tool-free wiring.

4. Home Assistant Integration: Fully supports integration with the Home Assistant smart home platform.

Once Anker SOLIX Smart Meter Gen 2 is installed, the Anker app displays:

Yes. Anker SOLIX Smart Meter Gen 2 features built-in anti-backflow functionality. The meter uses dual current transformers (CTs) to monitor the direction of power flow on both the grid supply circuit (GRID) and the photovoltaic / energy storage system (PV / ESS) circuit.


Once backflow is detected, the meter transmits a command to the connected Anker SOLIX PV / ESS devices via Wi-Fi or RS485 within 3 seconds. The devices automatically adjust their output to keep feed-in power below the set threshold, with no manual intervention required.

Smart Mode integrates three major data sources: historical power generation and consumption data, real-time weather forecasts, and dynamic electricity pricing. Using AI algorithms, it accurately predicts solar generation, household energy demand, and electricity price fluctuations over a 24-hour horizon to automatically generate an optimised charge and discharge schedule.

1. For Fixed-Rate Tariffs
During periods of surplus solar generation or negative electricity prices, Smart Mode can automatically turn on controllable loads (via the Smart Load Port) to maximise solar self-consumption and take full advantage of negative pricing.

2. For TOU (Time-of-Use) or Dynamic Tariffs
In addition to utilising surplus solar generation and negative electricity prices, if solar generation is insufficient, Smart Mode can charge the battery during low-rate off-peak periods and discharge it during peak high-rate peak periods to reduce your electricity costs. Furthermore, if you are enrolled in a grid-export (feed-in) plan, Smart Mode supports exporting stored energy to the grid during the most profitable periods, helping you maximise your revenue.

When connected to Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro, solar panels can be installed in various locations, such as balcony railings, terraces, gardens, or pitched roofs, with compatible mounting brackets.

For a safe and secure installation, we recommend using the manufacturer-provided brackets and fixing methods designed for your specific solar panels to prevent them from falling.

PV Generation Monitoring and Hardware Configuration Recommendations
For more precise PV generation monitoring and surplus energy management, we strongly recommend pairing it with Anker Smart Meter and current transformers (PV / ESS CTs). The specific hardware configuration depends on your household's grid type:

- Single-Phase Households (with Single-Phase Smart Meter): The single-phase smart meter comes standard with two independent CTs. You can use one to monitor the incoming grid power, and the other to monitor the circuit where the third-party solar system is connected.

- Three-Phase Households (with Three-Phase Smart Meter): The three-phase smart meter comes standard with a 3-in-1 CT bundle designed exclusively for monitoring the grid supply phases. It does not include dedicated CTs for monitoring third-party solar generation. To accurately monitor your third-party PV generation data, you will need to purchase additional sub-circuit CTs separately.

Yes. Mixing panels of different specifications is permitted, but a clear distinction must be drawn between "mixing across different ports" and "mixing on the same port." Provided the input voltage does not exceed the limit, please follow these guidelines:

1. Across Different PV Input Ports: Allowed
Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro features 4 independent PV input ports. You can connect solar panels with different specifications, such as power, voltage, or current, to separate PV ports. Each port operates independently, so panels connected to different ports will not affect one another.

2. On the Same PV Input Port (Parallel Connection): Strictly Prohibited
Do not connect solar panels with differing specifications in parallel to the same PV input port. Mismatched parameters will cause reverse current to flow into the lower-rated panels, resulting in reduced energy yield and potential safety hazards.

Configuration Requirements by Panel Count
4 Panels (One Panel per Port): Connect 1 panel directly to each port. Differing specifications across ports have no adverse effect on system performance.

8 Panels (Two Panels per Port, Parallel Connection): The two panels connected to the same PV input port must have identical specifications.

12 Panels (Three Panels per Port, Parallel Connection): The three panels connected to the same PV input port must have identical specifications.

The normal operating temperature range for Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro is -20°C to 55°C. When the device detects an abnormal temperature, the system automatically triggers a temperature protection mechanism. Safety under abnormal temperature conditions is maintained through the following 7-layer electrical protection system:

6. Emergency Pressure Relief Safety: In the event of cell thermal runaway, oxygen is rapidly discharged to prevent combustion. Once discharging is complete, the pressure relief valve closes automatically to prevent oxygen from re-entering and causing reignition.

7. Structural Safety: The device features an IP66-rated waterproof enclosure. Additionally, the base of the battery pack incorporates an anti-corrosion design to ensure that any potential electrolyte leakage does not cause corrosion of the battery assembly.

1. On-Grid Port (Connected to the Home Grid)
When hardwired, the maximum output power is 2,500W. Ensure the installation fully complies with all applicable local grid regulations and requirements.

2. Off-Grid Port (Direct Plug-In for Appliances)
The maximum output power is 2,990W. This port automatically switches between two power supply modes based on the real-time status of the main grid supply:

Normal Mode (Grid Supply Active)
When the Load Is ≤2,500W: The appliance is powered entirely by Solarbank 4.
When the Load Is >2,500W: The system uses a combined power supply of up to 2,500W from Solarbank 4 + 490W from the grid, delivering up to 2,990W in total for higher-power appliances.

Outage Mode (Battery Backup)
In the event of a power cut, the system instantly switches to the internal battery, providing up to 2,500W of backup power to keep your essential appliances running seamlessly.

Anker SOLIX Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro supports an output of up to 2,500W. To achieve an output exceeding 800W, please complete the following three steps:

1. Consumer Unit Hardwiring
Socket connections are not supported for outputs over 800W. A certified electrician needs to assess your home circuit, remove the device plug, and safely hardwire the unit directly to your consumer unit.

2. Compliance Registration
After installation, your electrician should submit the required technical documents and forms to your local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) on your behalf to complete the formal grid connection registration.

3. App Power Adjustment
Once the hardwiring and registration are complete, open the Anker app. In the settings, you can unlock the default limit and adjust the output power up to 2,500W based on your needs.

Installation and Safety Guidelines
1. Your installation must comply with all applicable UK and local electrical and building regulations.
2. Please follow the manufacturer's official installation guidelines. To ensure optimal electrical safety and system stability, we recommend purchasing all adapter cables used for parallel connections, such as Y-branch adapters and 3-in-1 cables, directly from the official Anker website.
3. If you are unsure whether your solar panels are compatible, please consult a qualified electrician or certified installer before purchasing.

Complete the following three steps in the Anker app:

1. In the initial setup or system settings, select "Existing Third-Party PV System."
2. Set the operating mode to Smart Mode or Self-Consumption Mode.
3. Enable "Allow Grid Export" and set the AC charging power to greater than 0.

Once configured, the system will use the smart meter to detect surplus generation and charge the battery at up to 2,500W (about twice as fast as the industry standard of 1,200W), significantly increasing your self-consumption rate.

We recommend installing the Y-branch connector closer to the solar panels.

Advantages:

Cost Efficiency: This eliminates the need for one extension cable per MPPT input, reducing overall installation costs.

Cable Management: It minimises redundant parallel cabling between the main unit and the panels, resulting in a cleaner, more organised setup.

Installation Guidelines:

Cable Specifications: When two solar panels are connected in parallel, the output currents are additive. For the main cable running from the Y-branch connector to Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro, we strongly recommend using a dedicated 6 mm² solar cable to safely carry the higher combined current and minimise resistive losses.

Operating Environment: To ensure safety and longevity, avoid placing the connector in areas subject to high temperatures, water ingress, or prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Smart Meter Gen 2 uses current transformers (CTs) to collect single-phase voltage, current, and power data in real time. Its main functions include:

1. Dynamically adjusting Solarbank output based on real-time consumption to support self-consumption and zero grid feed-in.

2. Adapting to single-phase grid environments.

Yes. Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro features a built-in Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) function to power your essential devices during a power cut.

When a power cut occurs, the system automatically switches to Off-Grid Mode within 10 ms. It provides up to 2,500W of uninterrupted power to critical loads connected to its dedicated off-grid port. Once grid power is restored, the system automatically reverts to its normal operating mode without manual intervention.

Please note:

- Backup power is available only to loads connected to the designated off-grid port.

- Actual backup duration depends on the battery's state of charge and the total demand of the connected loads.

- Switchover performance may vary depending on the connected load type and characteristics.

Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro must remain powered off throughout the installation process, including all wiring and electrical connections.

Upon first use, Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro will power on automatically once connected to solar panels or a power outlet. If network configuration in the Anker app is not completed after the initial power-on, the unit will automatically power off after 30 minutes.

Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro includes an off-grid power supply, subject to the following limitations:

Supported: During an outage, it provides continuous power to connected loads via the off-grid port, with a maximum output of 2,500W. Power delivery continues until the battery reaches its minimum state of charge.

Not Supported: Whole-house three-phase backup, backup power via the on-grid port, or supplying power to the entire house via a Wieland socket during an outage.

These devices support the following energy management modes:

- Smart Mode: AI-driven charge and discharge optimisation that adapts to your energy usage over time.

- Custom Mode: User-defined charge and discharge schedules aligned with daily energy demand.

Yes. Anker SOLIX Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro supports dual-cycle operation, delivering two charge-discharge cycles daily to meet both morning and evening peak demand periods.

Powered by automotive-grade 314Ah LFP cells with a 10,000-cycle lifespan, Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro can charge from the grid during off-peak, night-time hours to serve morning peak demand, then recharge via solar PV generation during daylight hours to cover the evening peak. This configuration addresses household dual-peak energy needs without risk of capacity degradation from frequent cycling.

A 16A to 20A circuit breaker is recommended. The specific rating should be determined based on your system's power configuration and local electrical regulations.

Anker SOLIX Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro supports up to five Anker SOLIX BP5000 battery modules. With each BP5000 offering a capacity of 5kWh, the total system capacity can reach up to 30kWh.

Away from Hazards: Keep a safe distance from heat and fire sources, as well as flammable or explosive materials.

Dry Environment: Although the unit is IP-66 rated, avoid prolonged exposure to standing water or excessive moisture.

Anker SOLIX Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro features a 2,500W load port with a built-in 10 ms UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) function. During a power outage, it automatically switches to battery power within 10 ms to keep essential devices like refrigerators and routers running continuously. Additionally, the 2,500W off-grid output is powerful enough to run high-wattage appliances such as washing machines and heat pumps, covering peak energy demands for most households.

Backup Reserve is a reserved portion of battery capacity retained for emergencies. Similar to a vehicle maintaining a fuel reserve, you can set a minimum state of charge (SoC), for example 15%.
